Becker’s trajectory over the last decade or so is anything but conventional, but one that somehow still ties together all of the various threads into a life moving forward by its own rules. Projects that start as a creative brainstorming burst develop out into a culminative body of work that illustrates the workings of a DIY artist at the peak of progress. This shit is mad fun, too
Comedian turned producer turned activist Kristen Becker has been described as a “comedic tour de force” and is likely the funniest dyke you’ve never heard of. Born in Buffalo, NY and raised in Louisiana, her show dishes up a bawdy sense of reality...served with a slice of southern charm.
In 2006 she was a founding member of Dykes of Hazard comedy, bringing lesbian comedy into deep south dive bars. As baby dyke Becker matured and the national climate changed, her efforts switched to a more unifying message. In 2015, she launched the Loosen the Bible Belt tour with Pastor Jay Bakker ( son of queer icon Tammy Faye Bakker) a comedy/variety tour intended to bridge the the gap between the religious and queer communities existing south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Yes. She is a non religious dyke comic that tours with the Pastor son of Tammy Faye Bakker. How do you NOT know her?

In 2016, Becker launched Summer of Sass (summerofsass.com) a summer work program that relocates 18-20 yr old LGBTQ humans from oppressive areas to work and live in Provincetown for the summer.
This year Becker is teaming up with Curve magazine to launch LEZBIANATI , a podcast/video home on the internet for badass, benevolent women.
